Lisa Moscatiello in Concert
In concert, Lisa uses her voice to explore. To say she has broad musical tastes and influences understates her enormous musical versitility. Her "roots" include Celtic fusion, techno, jazz, glee club a capella, pop, and traditional folk. Whether performing solo or as a lead singer for powerhouse groups such as The New St. George (a folk-rock band, sadly demised) and Whirligig (a Manhattan-based neo-celtic band), Lisa does a satisfying mix of her own originals and her hallmark, unique interpretations of others' songs. She has a knack not only for finding good material, but also the right combination of songs. Her sets can be dark and magical, sensuous and lulling, or a bit funky cabaret. She has been known to juxtapose Janis Ian with Tom Waits and a 16th century Scottish ballad. We don't know where she's likely to take us, but we hope you'll join the Cornell Folk Song Club in welcoming Lisa Moscatiello. She was last here several years ago to a full house on Bound For Glory. Tickets are available at Borealis Books, I-Town Records (formerly Rebop), Bound for Glory, and at the door. For information, contact Ken McKinney at 256.4861, Ginny Gartlein at 272.3471, or Bill Steele, or check out the Cornell Folk Song Club.
